Meet Recap: Who doesn't love a little rain😎 What started out with a smattering of rain in the beginning races, led to an all-out mud bath on many sections of the course....in particular the hills. In each of the 6 races the Rebels persevered! Much to like over the course of the morning as the teams closed the team score gap that was St. Olaf. The Varsity Girls' moved ahead of Bloomington Jefferson and the Varsity Boys' closed the gap against the same team by 5 places to fall behind by only 9 points.
Of the 18 girls racing 14 had seasonal bests, for the boys, 17 of the 21 running had seasonal bests!
Rebel Racing: Ophelia Schomaker, Ella Kern and Noah Osterberg opened the day in the 7th & 8th Grade Race grabbing 6th, 121st and 54th respectfully in the 3.2K races. In the JV Girls' 5K senior Rachel Miller dropped 1:16 and finished 12th. also scoring for the Rebels were Melina Ung-42nd, Sophie Grossman-55th, Maura Wahl-58th and JoJo Lund in 66th. Leila Lyes made her 5K debut running a 28:30 or her first HS race. The JV Girls' finished 7th overall out of 19 teams.
The JV Boys' finished 7th out of 36 teams. Senior Tyler Kyes was our top runner finishing 23rd, with Ben Matzke in 41st, Will Larson-49th, Tyler Musto-64th and Ezra Severin finishing 96th. Kevin Samey made his 5K debut running 32:06.
The Varsity Girls' finished behind 4 ranked Iowa teams finishing in 5th! Our scoring runners were, Abby Hibbs-4th, Brigid Keran-22nd, Vayda Foy-42nd, Gabby Wahl-61st ( PB !) and Elise Oldroyd-78th.
The Varsity Boys' finished 7th, behind several ranked Iowa teams and Minnesota ranked Mpls Washburn. As mentioned above the boys closed the gap to Blmtn Jefferson to a mere 9 points. Scoring for the Rebels were, Charlie Hibbs-13th, Ethan Ibarra-28th, Logan Martinez-32nd, Caleb Osterberg-62nd and Ryan Kane-64th.
Next up for the Rebels: the 57th Annual Metro Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 17th
