2022 NWSC Recap:  Let's start with the weather, once again rain made it's presence at the Elk River GC.  While the Boys' Varsity Race went off with some sunshine and clouds, the Varsity Girls' race began with large raindrops at the start and finished with a light mist.  Due to lightning several miles away, the meet was delayed some 30 minutes and it was decided to race both genders together for the JV race!  It was a sight, as the Rebel girls pink singlets raced against/amongst the several hundred jv boys'. Seven girls' ran to season bests and 5 boys'...not bad for a hilly/wet course!   The Varsity Boy's led off the meet at 3:15 with Charlie Hibbs leading the peloton of Varsity Boys'.  Charlie-9th, Logan Martinez-23rd earned All-Conference Honors, as did Ethan Ibarra Ibarra-29th and Ryan Kane-42nd earned All-Conference HM Honors.Considering the course was in similar if not identical conditions to 2021,  Eight of the boy's dropped considerable time from 2021 's race.  Caleb Osteberg dropped 2:23 from last year and Logan dropped 1:59.  New Varsity runner Will Larson dropped 1:51 from last years race also.  The Varsity Boy's ran to a 7th place finish, just missing out by 10 and 30 points to 5th & 6th.
The Varsity Girls' were able to secure 2nd place as a team (Second highest team finish in school history after the 2021 win.).  Leading the way was Abby Hibbs in 3rd, followed by Brigid Keran - 17th, Elise Oldroyd-28th, Vayda Foy-31st and Gabby Wahl-33rd. This was Elise's 4th consecutive All-Conference Honor ! Gabby Wahl, Rachel Miller-41st, and Kylie Aswegan-40th earned their 1st ever All-Conference HM honors.  Abby Hibbs continued her streak of All-Conference Honors for the 4th consecutive year!  Of note, this was the most All-Conference Honors the team has ever achieved in school history!
The JV Boys' finished 8th overall as a team led by Maxwell Simmons-36th, Tyler Musto 37th and Lucas Vetter in 54th.  The JV Girls' raced to a 3rd place finish with Lexy Beer-3rd, Joanna Lund-11th, Melina Ung 12th, Maura Wahl 16th and newcomer Leila Lyles-39th making up the top five.
