Girls' Recap: The continued emphasis on running as a pack was evident in both varsity races this past Thursday.   The  duo of Jena and Sarina the teams #'s 1 and 2 continued their strong pacing strategy at Sections hitting the 1-mile in 6:34 and holding an average of 6:39's for miles 2 and 3 for
PR's of 20 +sec. each.   Pairing  up for the first time this season were Diana and Brooke who trailed Cristina our #3 which resulted in a  tighter pack this season than our previous races.  The time spread between our #1 and #5 was  1:40  which allowed our team to move up from #12 seed to an 11th place finish  in the team results.   Claire and Rebecca were within a few yards of our second pack for a solid 6th and 7th runner.  Both ran to PR's, dropping 1:24 and :28 seconds respectively.
Eight of our 9 JV Runners ran to seasonal bests and pr's ( a reminder it's the 1st year running a 5K).
Leading the way for the Rebels were Sydney and Amelia and Audrey as our 1,2 and 4 ( 8th grader Jenny was our #3 in the meet. ).   Running in the #5 spot for the Rebels was Jessie who completed her first season running cross country.
Boys' Recap: While it's hard to find a faster course than Victoria, the Anoka course and it being the last meet of the season allowed the majority of the boys' team to finish with either a PR or their respective 2nd best time of the season.   Talk about tight packing, the Rebels had the lowest time spread of the meet at 41 seconds between our #1 and #5.   What has now become a familiar sight was our top two of Connor and Ian running with a few yards of each other from the 1st mile 5:30 to the finish.  Our pack of five was about a close as you can get running on a winding course, and they were
Michael V. , Corban, Aaron, Michael U., and Jake.  Yesterday was by far the best pacing the squad had done ( next to Luther), allowing the squad to run strong and even for the 5K.  The 1st mile split was within 5 to 8 seconds of their respective mile averages for the race.  The end  result was the team finishing in 11th place.
Our top four in the JV race each dropped over 60 seconds to get both their season pr  lifetime 5K pr. Congrats to Mitch, Eoin, Jake and Graham for making the biggest dip on the boys' side in time. Congrats to all of the JV Boy's for ending their season on such a nice note !
